Registered Dietitian (RD) Support for Hendry Regional Medical Center
Our inpatient registered dietitian (RD) is dedicated to supporting high-quality patient care across our facility. Our RD is an integral member of the interdisciplinary team, working closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimize nutrition care and improve patient outcomes.What Is a Registered Dietitian?
An RD is a licensed nutrition professional who specializes in the assessment and management of patients’ nutritional needs during hospitalization. Nutrition plays a critical role in healing, recovery, and overall health, and inpatient dietitians help ensure patients receive the right nutrition at the right time.What Does an Inpatient Dietitian Do?
●Assess nutritional status and identify patients at risk for malnutrition●Develop individualized nutrition care plans based on medical conditions and patient needs
●Manage nutrition support, including tube feeding and IV nutrition
●Provide nutrition education to patients and families before discharge
●Collaborate with the healthcare team to support healing, recovery, and safe transitions of care
When Should You Contact an Inpatient Dietitian?
Staff are encouraged to consult an inpatient dietitian when:●A patient is identified as at risk for malnutrition
●A patient has poor oral intake or unintended weight loss
●A patient requires tube feeding or IV nutrition
●A patient needs nutrition education prior to discharge
●There are concerns about diet tolerance or nutrition adequacy
Coverage Details
Inpatient Dietitian Coverage: Typical schedule is Monday through Friday 8 am – 5 pm, though may vary depending on patient needs and additional responsibilities.How to Contact
